Allen Wins Tough Road Game

Allen Wins Tough Road Game

The Allen men's basketball team came away with an ugly 89-84 win over Northwest Tech Wednesday night in Goodland, Kansas. Allen came out strong in the early going as the offense was clicking for the Red Devils. Allen was able to shoot 62% from the floor in the first half, but NW Tech would match the Red Devils offensive performance as they were knocking down perimeter jumpers as well. NW Tech took a 3 point lead into the halftime intermission.

In the second half the two teams would trade leads on several occasions, as neither team could fully separate from the other. Allen clung to a 1 point lead with just over a minute to go. Shaikim Jenks used a ballscreen and found Freddie Word in the corner and Word knocked down a big 3 pointer to give Allen a 2 possession lead. Allen found a way to sneak out a tough road win.

Freddie Word led the Red Devils in scoring with 28 points on 10-20 from the floor. Shaikim Jenks had his best performance of the season with 21 points on 7-10 shooting. Amadou Traore also reached double digits with 14 points.

Allen is now 3-2 on the season, and 2-1 in KJCCC action. Next Allen will host the Colby Trojans Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm. Limited fans will be allowed to attend per KJCCC's new updated policy.
