Allen Wins First Conference Game

The Allen men's basketball team started out KJCCC play with a hard fought road win at Pratt CC 85-77. The first half saw both teams trading the lead back and forth. Right before half time the Red Devils went on a mini run and led by 6 points with about a minute remaining in the half. The Beavers would answer with a 5-0 run to close the half, leaving the Red Devils with a 1 point half time lead (32-31).

In the early going of the second half Pratt gained all of the momentum with back to back 3's by #12 Zool Kueth and #20 Deontae Davis.  Midway through the half the Beavers pushed their lead to as many as 11 points. The Red Devils made a few defensive adjustments and slowed down Pratt, and Allen's offense started clicking over the last 10 minutes of play. Allen would slowly chip away at Pratt's lead and near the 5:00 minute mark the Red Devils regained the lead. Allen would keep the pressure on Pratt and got several defensive stops in a row, which allowed Allen to extended their lead to 11 points in the final minutes. The Red Devils converted at the free throw line to seal the win.

Allen was led in scoring by Trez Hankins with 23 points. Hankins was 5 of 9 from the 3 point line and also grabbed 4 rebounds. Joel Boyce had a great game with 20 points on 7-11 from the floor and 6-8 from the free throw line. Jalen Sasser had his best game in a Red Devil uniform with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Allen improves to 6-4 on the season, and 1-0 in KJCCC play. Next up the Red Devils will host Garden City CC on Saturday.
