Allen Wins First Conference Game Over Butler

The Allen Men's basketball team got the monkey off their back in Jayhawk Conference play by defeating Butler CC 102-95. The Red Devils had their best shooting night of the season, connecting on 8 of 12 attempts from the 3 point line, and also making 40 of 46 free throw attempts. Allen trailed in the early going, but a run midway through the first half gave the Red Devils the lead for the rest of the contest. Allen would take a 6 point lead into the halftime break with the score of 53-47.

In the second half of play the Red Devils would lead by as many as 18 points, but in the last 8 minutes of play Butler made a big run of their own due to turnovers and lack of execution by Allen. The Red Devils kept their composure late in the game and made several big plays to earn the win. Tyler Williams had his best game of the season, scoring 29 points on 4 of 5 from the 3 point line and 15 of 16 from the free throw line. Jamaal Clifton made a huge 3 late in the game to help seal the game. Clifton scored 19 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Darius Love scored 14 points, and Cordy Winston and Jovares Jones also reached double figures with 13 points.

Allen's overall record is 3-6, and Jayhawk Conference record of 1-4. Allen will travel to Barton on Wednesday.
