Women's Soccer Knocks Off Central

The 9th ranked Lady Red Devils traveled to Columbus, Nebraska this weekend to take on Central Community College Raiders to start off their regional and conference games. The Red Devils started the match strong and controlled the game connecting passes through the midfield and calmly playing out of the back. Although out shooting the Raiders 2-1, only one found the back of the net in the first half after being deflected off one of Centrals players into their own goal, making the score 1-0 (Allen) going into the second half.

Starting the second half, the Raiders came out with lots of energy and in the 55th minute a Central player was able to find the back of the net, tying the game up at 1-1. Going into overtime Allen was able to dominate and remained in the Raiders defensive half. At the 99th minute, the ball tricked out to the top of the eighteen where #16 Katherine Hammond was able to get a shot off and placed the ball side netting to win the game 2-1 in favor of the Red Devils. Allen ended with a total of 18 shots compare to Central's 4 and Daniela Gonzalez ended the game with 3 saves.

The Lady Red Devils will be hitting the pitch once again at home, Wednesday September 21st to take on Pratt at 2:00 PM.
