Women's Soccer Splits At National Tournament

The Lady Red Devils traveled to Evans, Georgia for the 2021 Women's Soccer National Tournament to take on some of the best teams in the country. The Lady Red Devils  first game was against Holmes Community College who was ranked number 2 in the country. The Lady Red Devils came out fearless, but Holmes  was able to get 2 goals early in the game.

Dorothy Usher connected on a 20 yard bomb to pull the Red Devils with one. In the early going of the second half Allen had several chances on goal, but the Holmes goalkeeper came up with some tough saves. The game resulted in a 2-1 defeat in the first national tournament game for the Lady Red Devils. 

During the second game the Lady Red Devils took on the Archers from St. Louis Community College. The game was tight all the way through with the Lady Red Devils being exhausted after playing a very tough game the day before. The Lady Red Devils created many chances on goal, but could not find the back of the net. The  Lady Red Devils came up big defensively, with big plays made from Shelbie Purdom and Phoenix Michaels. Through the first two periods neither team was able to score, resulting in penalty kicks to decide the outcome. The Lady Red Devils won the penalty kicks 3-2, as goalkeeper Phoenix Michaels came up huge with 3 PK saves, and the game winning PK came from Nicole Cortez. The Lady Red Devils unfortunately were not able to advance to the knockout stages due to goal differential.

The Lady Red Devils made history being the first Red Devil soccer team to ever qualify for the national tournament and proved to the nation that the Allen Community College Women's soccer program can compete with best teams in the nation. The Lady Red Devils ended their fantastic season with 12-1-0 record scoring 50 goals and only allowing 4. History has been made by all of these ladies and their hard work and dedication has shown!
