The Allen Men's Basketball team earned the regular season sweep over the Highland Scotties with a 66-53 final score. In the early going Highland knocked down some perimeter jumpers and also converted in transition to take the early lead. The Red Devils had a lot of open perimeter jumps shots as the Scotties were trying to protect the paint, but Allen could not get any shots to fall. Near the end of the 1st half the Red Devils made their push and regained the lead. Allen would take a slight 2 point advantage into halftime 30-28.
Highland would strike quickly in the second half as they grabbed the lead back, but a couple 3 pointers from Ahmed Mahgoub and Tanner Meyer gave the Red Devils the lead right back. The Allen defense tightened up in the second half and eventually allowed the Red Devils to separate late in the game. Allen would handle the pressure from Highland in the final minutes and converted some easy baskets at the rim to seal the win.
Nick Whittick was phenomenal on the defensive end as he held Highlands leading scorer Greg Moore to just 3 points for the game. Whittick also dished out 5 assists. The Red Devils were led in scoring by Tanner Meyer with 17 points. Meyer connected on 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Chris Dixon and Ahmed Mahgoub both scored 15 points.
The Red Devils are 19-7 overall on the season and 8-2 in the KJCCC standings. Next Allen will head to Chanute on Saturday for a 4:00 pm matchup with the Neosho Panthers.
