Allen Defeats Labette Big to Open Conference

They Allen Men's Basketball team won their first game back from the Holiday break with a 78-58 win over the Labette Community College Cardinals. This was also the first matchup of the KJCCC Conference slate. The Red Devils jumped out to an early 8-2 lead and never would train the rest of the game. The Allen defense was all over the place in the first half and did not allow Labette any clean looks at the basket. Allen would hold the Cardinals to just 15.6% from the floor in the first half as the halftime score ended up 37-16.

Allen would continue their tough defense in the second half as Labette would not score for the first 6 minutes of the second half, and Allen was able to push their lead up to as many as 35 points midway through the second half. Labette did not quit as they continued to battle and cut the lead down to 20 at the end of the game for a final score of 78-58 in favor of the Red Devils. Allen was able to play all 14 players who suited up quality minutes.

Donavan Seamster picked up right where he left off in the first semester with 13 points to lead Allen in scoring. Ahmed Mahgoub scored 12 points and dished out 3 assists. Chris Dixon also reached double figures with 11 points, and Dixon also grabbed 5 rebounds.

Allen is now 12-5 on the season, and 1-0 in Conference play. Allen will travel to Hesston on Wednesday for an 8:00 pm matchup with the Hesston College Larks. The Red Devils were also receiving votes to be ranked in the latest NJCAA polls.
