Allen Community College batters combined for 33 runs and 34 hits over two games Sunday in a doubleheader sweep of Labette. Freshman Armondo Navarro was a key catalyst, driving in seven runs with five hits, including a pair of home runs.

Allen Community College?s bats erupted with hits and runs aplenty as the Red Devils wrapped up a four-game series against Labette Community College.

After scoring a combined five runs in splitting the first two games last Wednesday at home, the Red Devils eclipsed that mark by the second inning of Sunday?s twin bill.

Allen brought home wins of 19-8 and 14-8 over the Cardinals to take a 14-8 record into an upcoming series against Cowley College.

In Sunday?s opener, the Red Devils smashed home six runs in the second, seven in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Eight of the nine ACC batters collected hits, and all nine scored runs.

Armando Navarro went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and five RBIs, while Garrett Rusch doubled twice and drove in four. Carson Shepherd singled and doubled with two RBIs and four runs. Jake Galloway chipped in with three singles and three runs. Colton Ayres singled twice. Parker Martin singled, drove in three and scored three times. Bjarne Reinhardt also had a single.

That was more than enough for starter Payton Pudenz, who shut down Labette?s lineup with five shutout innings. He allowed two hits and struck out six.

THINGS were looking rather gloomy in the nightcap. Allen trailed 5-2 headed into the top of the fifth, but scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-5 lead, and then erupted for eight in the top of the eighth to take full control.

The hit parade continued,with Allen batters pounding out 18 hits.

Rusch, Navarro and Caleb Horsey all hit home runs. Martin went 3-for-6 with a double; Reinhardt and Shepherd each went 3-for-5 with two singles and a double.

Rusch added a single while driving in three. Navarro also singled and had two RBIs. Horsey?s lone hit, the home run, accounted for three RBIs. Ayres singled twice. Cale Clark and Mees Robberse also singled.

Allen deployed a full arsenal of pitchers to bring home the win. Owen Myers allowed two hits over three innings with three strikeouts to get things started. He was plagued by ill-timed errors that accounted for four unearned runs by Labette. Elias Muller, Nicholas Walter, Brodie Gleason, Seth Broadwell and Brayden Thompson combined to pitch six innings of relief, surrendering a combined five hits with seven strikeouts.
