Allen Sweeps Rival Neosho

On October 9th the Lady Red Devils hosted the Neosho Panthers in a conference show down. The first set was intense right from the beginning. The Panthers raced out to an early lead of of 9-13. However, the Lady Red Devils refused to back down and were able to even the score. Allen would go on to win the first set 26-24 after an ace from freshman outside hitter Adriana Santiago.

The second set Allen and Neosho went back and forth in the early going, until the Lady Red Devils went on a big run due to errors from the Panthers and solid offensive execution. Allen would go on to easily win the second set 25-13.

The third set would go much like the first set for both teams, as the Panthers were more resilient after the second set. Allen kept Neosho in the match because of 5 service errors, but the Lady Red Devils pushed the score to 24-21. The Panthers would go on to tie the set at 24 apeice, but Allen would earn the last two points on service error from Neosho and a match ending solo block from Brittney Eskridge to complete the sweep.

Allen's offense was led by Samantha Alexander with 15 kills on 22 attempts, and Adriana Santiago followed up with 14 kills. Laia Jaca finished the match with 38 assists and 12 digs to earn a double-double. Celymar Cabranes led the team defense with 17 digs, and freshman Mattie Dougherty followed up with 11 digs for the match. Next, Allen will travel to Coffeyville on Monday for a KJCCC matchup against the #2 in the nation Red Ravens.
