Ladies Win Thriller At Home

Ladies Win Thriller At Home

The lady devils hosted Dodge City this evening for another conference matchup. The ladies knew going into the game that Dodge had 2 leading scorers they had to contain to win the game. They had a defensive strategy that would take away what Dodge wanted to do. In the first quarter, the ladies would be led by Melody Wilfong who would not miss from beyond the arc! She would go for 5 three pointers in the first half alone! The ladies would completely shut down Dodge on the offensive end and hold their key players to single digits! The ladies would go into half down just one, 26-27.

The second half would be wild as there were 4 ties and the lead would go back and forth throughout the third quarter. Adji Mbaye would not be able to be stopped in the second half as she would rip her way to the basket for multiple and-1 opportunities. Kiley Biltoft would come up HUGE in the second half with her rebounding both on offense and defense. Her defensive intensity led the girls late in the game. At the end of the third quarter, Addie Towe would hit a deep three from NBA range to take a 45-42 lead and the ladies would never look back. Throughout the fourth, the ladies would play strong and not let the pressure of Dodge get to them. They continued to attack on offense and control the pace of the game. With six minutes to go, the ladies took a five point lead as they would knock down crucial free throws, connecting on 70% of them. A great, overall team win for these ladies by a score 55-50.

This was the first time the lady devils have won against Dodge City since 2017. The ladies were led by Adji Mbaye with 16 points while Melody Wilfong added 15 points and 5 rebounds and Addie Towe had 10. Kiley Biltoft had 10 rebounds as well. The ladies will head to Hutch this Saturday to try and keep their momentum going.
