GAME 1

 

The Red Devils watched game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-5 loss to OKWU JV in game one on Wednesday, February 22nd.

 

The Red Devils lost despite out-hitting OKWU JV nine to four.

 

OKWU JV got on the board in the second inning. An error scored one run for OKWU JV followed by 3 more runs being pushed across off singles to put the score 4-0 OKWU JV. In the third inning, OKWU JV pushed across another run off of a double to push the deficit for Allen to 5-0 OKWU JV. After a scoreless fourth inning, Allen finally got on the board off a solo homerun by Skyler Jackson in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 5-1 OKWU JV. The Eagles scored 3 more runs in the top of the sixth as the Red Devils could only push across one by a fielder's choice by Kailey Schinstock.

 

The Red Devils notched 3 runs in the seventh inning.  Allen put the pressure on, led by doubles by Robin Todd and Ashley Tribble. Overall, the Red Devils fell short with the final score 8-5 eagles.

 

Skyler Jackson took the loss for the Red Devils. The righty surrendered eight runs on three hits over six innings, striking out ten.

 

The Red Devils totaled nine hits in the game. Jackson, Todd, and Brooklyn Goehring each racked up multiple hits for the Red Devils. Goehring, Todd, and Jackson each managed two hits to leading Allen.

 

GAME 2

 

Four runs batted in from Robin Todd helped lead the Red Devils past OKWU JV 12-7 in game two.  

 

An early lead helped propel Allen to victory.  The Red Devils scored on a double by Todd, a single by Ashley Tribble, and a 3-run home run by Lacey Stamper in the first inning making the score 5-1 Devils. OKWU JV pushed another 3 runs across in the second as the Red Devils answered back with their own 3 runs to make the score 8-4 Allen. The runs in the second inning by the Devils was credited to a fielder's choice by Todd, and a 2 run single by Skyler Jackson. The Eagles answered back with 2 more runs in the top of the third while Allen's bat heated up starting with a solo homerun by Haley Gedrose, an RBI single by Bailey Cravens then a 2 run homerun by Todd making the score 12-6 Allen. OKWU JV pushed their final run across in the top of the fourth inning leading to the final score of 12-7 Allen. The game was called in the fifth inning due to darkness.

 

Morgan Collins was credited with the victory for Allen. The right-hander went three innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits and striking out one.  Carissa Knight threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Knight recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Red Devils.

 

The Red Devils tallied 14 hits.  Brooklyn Goehring, Cravens, Todd, and Tribble all managed multiple hits for Allen.  Goehring went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Red Devils in hits.

 

Allen Softball is now 3-1 on the season and travels to NOC-Enid on Saturday, February 25th at 2/4p then to NOC-Tonkawa on Sunday, February 26th at 12/2p for a weekend series.
