Red Devils Earn Conference Sweep on the Road

GAME ONE

Red Devils took the lead late and defeated Fort Scott 11-8 on Saturday, April 6th in game one.

Red Devils opened up scoring in the first inning off of a fielder's choice by Samantha Greninger to score Ashtyn Jurging, as Fort Scott answered back with two runs of their own. In second inning Allen answered back off of a sacrifice fly by Meg Kirk and a Darby Lewis single on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two more runs.

After Red Devils scored three runs in the top of the third on Kirk's three-run homerun on a 1-2 count, Fort Scott answered with three of their own.

Fort Scott knotted the game up at eight in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Red Devils answered back batting in the top of the sixth when Chelsey Henry doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Red Devils helped secure the win, as Lauren Mills and Ashytn Jurging scored on Madisyn Thompson's single with two outs.

Lewis started the game for the Red Devils. She allowed four hits and four runs over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking one. Ashtyn Jurging was credited with the victory for the Red Devils. She allowed one hit and four runs over three innings, striking out six. Chloe Enderud threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Enderud recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Red Devils.

Red Devils had 18 hits in the game. Jurging, Thompson, Macie Cervantes, Mills, Henry, and Lewis all managed multiple hits for Red Devils. Jurging went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Red Devils in hits.

GAME TWO

Red Devils beat Fort Scott 6-2 in game two.

After five scoreless innnigs, the Red Devil's offense really got fired up with a lead-off double by Izzy Cunningham followed by Darby Lewis's single for the first run of the game. Sam Greninger went for the long ball, for a two-run homerun to put Allen up 3-0. Fort Scott answered back with one run.

Red Devils tallied three runs in the seventh inning. The Red Devil's big bats in the inning were led by a triple by Olivia Wilcox, an error on a ball put in play by Darby Lewis, and a double by Ashtyn Jurging.

Jurging was the winning pitcher for Red Devils. She allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out six. Chloe Enderud threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Enderud recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for the Red Devils.

Cunningham, Madisyn Thompson, Lewis, Jurging, Wilcox, Chelsey Henry, and Greninger each collected one hit a piece in the 7 hit victory for the Red Devils.
