Cowley College Captures Lead Early to Defeat The Lady Red Devils

The Lady Red Devils fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-3 loss to Cowley College on Friday. Cowley College took the lead on a double in the first inning.

Cowley College captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Jolona Shield drove in one run when she doubled.

Cowley College scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Cowley College came thanks to a double by Lindsay Webb, a single by Payton Wayland, and a wild pitch.

Logan Wenzel earned the win for Cowley College. She threw seven innings, allowing three runs, three hits, and striking out three. Sierra Thompson took the loss for The Lady Red Devils. She pitched six innings, giving up eight runs, nine hits, and walking one.

Winter Henry, Morgan Wayman, and Julia Keating all had one hit to lead The Lady Red Devils.

Cowley College collected nine hits. Morgan Kirk and Shield each collected multiple hits for Cowley College. Kirk went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Cowley College in hits. Cowley College didn't commit a single error in the field. Shield had the most chances in the field with ten.
