The Allen Softball Team Opens Up the 2016 Season

The Allen Community College softball team had a perfect opening day when they hosted Ottawa University's junior varsity for a doubleheader. The Red Devils came away with a 2-0 record.

The first game was a nail-biter for the Red Devils as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning but wound up having to hang on for a 6-5 win.

Baileigh Rager was the star of the day for her Red Devils.

Not only did the pitcher come in and record the save by getting the final four outs, but she also went 2-for 3 at the plate with a home run and a double to go with a pair of RBIs.

The Allen power didn't end there. Ashley Womack and Mykenna Sharp-Hadl each had a home run as part of their two hits.

The second game was more relaxed for the Red Devils. They were able to secure a 10-2 lead.

An eight-run second inning broke the game open and again it was Sharp-Hadl with a big day at the plate. She went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Both of her hits were doubles.

The ACC women now take their show on the road as they head to Fort Worth, Texas, for the weekend to compete in the Cowtown Classic.
