Dervin Hits National Mark in the Mile
MARYVILLE, MO – On Friday and Saturday of this weekend, the Men and Women's team head on the road to travel to Northwest Missouri University for the Bearcat Open. This week's meet had a positive outcome in the sense that we were able to get some work accomplished. It has been hard this past week navigating training, especially with the harsh weather conditions. Despite it all, on the distance side this meet showed us where the missing pieces were in the training and how those gaps need to be filled. Overall, the performances in the 1 mile and 5000 meter gives an indication of where we need to continue to improve. Armando Colome takes 11th place in the dash, coming through this week again for another solid performance. He runs a 6.98s making him the first runner part of the Red Devil program to dip under 7.0s in six years.

Sophomore Mitchell Dervin competes in the men's mile placing 12th overall and running a time of 4:21.27 to make another national qualifying mark adding to the 1000m that he ran last week at the Arkansas Invitational. Teammates Henos Andebrhan (4:31.12) and Will Johnson (4:43.69) follow to finish 22nd and 41st, respectively.

Michael Peraza ran on Friday to compete in the Men's 5000m run to put down a time of 16:49.52 to secure 11th place overall. Damilola Summers runs 51.57 in the 400m dash to finish 22nd. Rashion Walker runs 22.51 in the 200m finishing 21st for the event. On February 1st, the Red Devils will travel down to Pittsburg State University for the Pitt State Invitational.
