The Red Devil Men's soccer team travelled to Hesston on Saturday to take on Hesston Community College. The Devils started the game pressing the Larks goal and got a goal three minutes into the game, just to see it called back for a foul. Allen controlled the possession and opportunities in the first half, but could not put the ball in the net. At halftime Allen had 12 shots to only 2 for Hesston, but the score was tied 0-0.
The second half started with the Devils putting pressure on the Larks goal and the Hesston goalkeeper made some big saves to keep a clean sheet. Until the 52nd minute when Tiago Troyano was taken down inside the box and awarded a penalty kick. Troyano calmly stepped up a buried the kick to put Allen up 1-0. In the 70th minute Jordan Mase connected a header off a corner kick from Hingis Moremi to put the Devils up 2-0.
Hesston got the game back to 2-1 when they were awarded a Penalty Kick in the 78th minute. Allen controlled the ball and created several more chances and in the 87th minute Jordan Mase was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Troyano stepped up again and put the ball in the net to give Allen the 3-1 lead. The Devils controlled the ball for the last three minutes to secure the victory.
James Hobson played in goal and made 4 key saves on the day. The win puts the Devils at 9-5 on the season and 3-2 in region. Allen will host Pratt on Monday 10/18 at 4 pm.
