Allen Community College mens soccer player Fernando Robles committed on Monday to continue his college soccer career at San Francisco State University.

For Robles, a California-native, it is the opportunity to return home and play on a team that already has one of his best friends from his high school playing days on it.

"It is only six hours away from my home," Robles said. "They have a very good soccer program. I like the big city, too, so I was looking to go back home. One of my best friends from high school goes to San Francisco State. It is exciting to go back and play with him. He is a really good player."

Robles enjoyed his time at Allen and says the experience he gained from his time here in Iola is invaluable.  

"I definitely matured more as a person by being so far from home," Robles said. "If I can go all the way to Kansas, I can definitely go to San Francisco.
