Baseball Sweeps Labette

Parsons, KS-  The Red Devil Baseball team won both games at Labette Community College on Saturday.  The Red Devils used all around strong pitching performances to hold the Cardinals in check.  On the day the pitching staff limited the Cardinals to 7 runs on 15 hits, while striking out 15 and walking none. 

In game 1 on Saturday, Austin Cross (Hillsboro, KS) got the start and went the complete game earning his first win of the season.  Cross scattered 6 hits while striking out 7.  The Red Devil offense was paced by Sky-lar Culver (Mountain Home, AR) and Aaron Mason (Omaha, NE) both going 2 for 4 on the day.  Also having a hit was Baxter Mays (Sedalia, MO).  Mays was 1 for 3 while scoring 2 runs. 

Taylor Gulick (Baker City, OR) got the ball in game 2.  Gulick went 6 innings and gave up 5 runs, 4 earned.  Gulick struck out 7, while pitching around 7 hits.  Coleton Crisp (Whitewater, KS) and Hector Abreu (Yabucoa, PR) threw the final three 3 frames to preserve the lead.  Colton Flaherty (Monroe, MI) and Culver both had 2 hits including Home Runs and 3 RBI's a piece.  Justus Burke (Bettendorf, IA) was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's.  Tony Dougan (Wellsville, KS) also had a multiple hit game.

The Red Devils are off till Thursday where they will hit the road to head to Highland for KJCCC conference double header starting at 1 PM.
