The Allen Red Devils won their third game in a row after staving off the Northern Oklahoma Mavericks Tuesday.

The Allen Red Devils improved to 6-2 after pulling away in overtime for a 93-84 victory over Northern Oklahoma College Tuesday.

A pair of 3-pointers by freshman forward Logan Shockley thanks to some timely fouls by the Mavericks gave the Red Devils the room they needed to distance themselves and secure the win.

“I feel like our toughness and the culture we have with this team helped us pull away in OT,” Allen coach Patrick Nee said.

“We have played five D-I junior colleges from Oklahoma. I believe it made us a tougher team. Nobody in NJCAA D-II has played a schedule like ours.”

While Shockley’s overtime heroics made the difference in the end, it was freshman guard Moses Stephenson who had the team lead in scoring with 20 points.

Freshman guard Clyde Davis Jr., freshman guard Nyjah Noyes and sophomore guard James Demcher scored 17 points.

With less than a minute left Allen had a 74-70 lead off a drive by Davis Jr. and a putback by Demcher, but Northern Oklahoma rallied to push the game into overtime.

“I told the team before the overtime that we were the tougher team and we were prepared to win a game like this,” Nee said. “I’m very proud of the toughness and resilience of this group.”

Defensively, the Red Devils surpassed Northern Oklahoma College in rebounds with 41 total.

Noyes and Stephenson made the biggest impact under the basket, grabbing nine rebounds each, followed by Demcher with six then Davis Jr. with five.

Noyes also had a team-leading five assists and tied Davis Jr. and Shockley for the team lead in steals with two each.

With the win, the Red Devils improved to 6-2.
