For the first time this season, the Allen Community College Red Devils were named in the most recent NJCAA top 25 poll, less than a week after defeating fourth-ranked Johnson County Community College.

For the first time this season, an Allen Community College team broke into the national NJCAA top 25 rankings.

Hot off upsetting Johnson County Community College, then ranked the fourth best junior college volleyball team in the country, national officials picked the Allen Red Devils (14-4, 2-2) for the 24th slot in the most recent top 25 poll.

?[Highland] are up in the rankings as well, and they have a great program too,? said Allen coach Maria Aikins, immediately after their defeat of JCCC. ?We got this one, but we can?t be satisfied. We have to move on to the next day.?

Allen could continue climbing the national top 25 rankings in the ensuing weeks. On Wednesday, they hosted the Highland Community College Scotties (22-4, 2-2), a team scratching the top 25 rankings. (Results were not available by press time.) A few weeks later, the Red Devils host the 17th ranked Neosho County Community College Panthers (15-7, 2-2).

Following their Wednesday, Oct. 29 senior night against Labette Community College (19-12, 2-2), the Red Devils wrap up the regular season on the road against the Cowley County Tigers (18-0, 4-0). The Tigers are the No. 1 ranked junior college team in the nation.
