CHARLOTTE, NC ? Conference play for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference women?s soccer teams has begun, and the latest rendition of the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 women?s soccer rankings have been released with all six ranked teams from the conference holding steady in the polls.
Just a one-spot change for one team across the polls came for the KJCCC, as the other five teams all kept their ranking from the previous week, as the top-20 polls begin to solidify with teams that have started to separate themselves as those worthy of rankings. Of the six teams that are ranked this week from the KJCCC, two are ranked in the top 10, while four of the six teams are ranked in the top 12 of their respective polls.
The highest-ranked team from the conference remains Johnson County Community College as the Cavaliers have kept a tight hold on the number two ranking in the NJCAA Division 2 poll after picking up wins over Pensacola State College and Mississippi Gulf Coast over the weekend to improve to 4-0. Joining the Cavaliers in the top 10 is number 10-ranked Kansas City Kansas, after seeing the Blue Devils play to a 1-1 draw at Metropolitan Community College in mid-week action before defeating Southeast Community College 10-0 on Saturday to open NJCAA Region 6/9 play. Also ranked in the latest NJCAA Division 2 women?s soccer poll is Allen Community College, with the Red Devils once again ranked number 19 following a 1-1 road tie at Neosho County on Saturday in their only action last week.
Taking a look at the NJCAA Division 1 women?s soccer poll, Cowley remains ranked number 11 following their season opener last week, which saw the Tigers play number four-ranked Seminole State to a 1-1 tie in their only non-conference match of the regular season. Just seven points back in the poll of Cowley is number 12-ranked Hutchinson after the Blue Dragons were not in action last week to hold their ranking. Remaining in this week?s rankings and representing the only movement for KJCCC teams is Butler, as the Grizzlies went on the road and earned a 1-1 tie at number nine Iowa Western before playing to a 2-2 draw against number 16-ranked Lewis & Clark Community College to conclude their non-conference portion of their schedule.
On the schedule this week is the start of KJCCC D2 play on Saturday, September 6th when Neosho County hosts Allen and Highland hosts Pratt to kick off Region 6/9 play for the six KJCCC D2 women?s soccer teams. As for KJCCC D1 women?s soccer games, Cowley is at Seminole State on Thursday for the first of three ranked matchups this week for KJCCC D1 teams. The remaining ranked matchups will both feature number 19 Butler as the Grizzlies play Friday night at number seven Iowa Western before heading to number 18 Lewis & Clark Community College on Sunday.
Conference play will make up most of a 16-match week this week across the conference, with just three matches taking place that are not either KJCCC or NJCAA Region 6/9 contests. Highlighting the week is a rematch of the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Region 6 Tournament Championship game between number 11 Cowley and number 12 Hutchinson, with the game set for Wednesday evening in Hutchinson.
