With only four sophomores on the roster, the Allen Red Devils do not have long to develop but thanks to talented, up-and-coming freshman, they may not need much preparation time.
The Allen Red Devil freshmen made a strong first impression during Saturday?s home opener against the Friends University Junior Varsity in a 93-65 victory.
Five Allen players reached double-digits in scoring, including a 19-point performance by freshman guard Clyde Davis Jr., as Allen rolled to a blowout victory in front of their home crowd.
After heading into halftime with a 15-point advantage, the Red Devils continued rolling from there as Clyde Jr. was perfect behind the arch while shooting 2 of 2. Allen?s other standout freshman guard Moses Stephenson had 15 points in his Red Devil debut.
Stephenson also had a team-leading nine rebounds, followed by freshman forward Logan Shockley with eight, then freshman guard Nyjah Noyes coming off the bench with six rebounds, which complemented his 10 points. Noyes also had a team-leading three steals. Freshman guard Derrick Cooper had a team-leading four assists.
After winning their home opener, the Red Devils received their first road test Monday, when they traveled to Warner, Oklahoma to face Connors State College. The game did not conclude by press time to post results.
The Red Devils remain on the road with a slate of games scheduled as part of the Northern Oklahoma College Enid Classic. Allen faces the host school Friday, then Redlands Community College Saturday.
