Allen CC shooting team debuts in Sedgwick

Allen Community College's newest sports program made its over the weekend and participating athletes had a blast.

The Allen Community College shooting sports team competed in its first event Sept. 13 at the Kansas Trap Shooting Association in Sedgwick.

Each student participated in two 100-round trap singles events as part of the Grands 200 competition.

The Allen team, coached by Assistant Coach Destry Roye, Co-Head Coach Josh Wrestler, and Co-Head Coach Jeremy Hess, consisted of Sheldon Weber, Jaryt Hess, Weston Cleaver, and Jozie Stagg.

Hess led the Red Devils with a score of 189/200, followed by Stagg, who shot 177/200; Cleaver scored 173/200; and Weber shot 137/200.

?The students excelled in competing together as a team and reached many individual milestones,? ACC Assistant Coach Roye said.

?I am excited to see what the season has in store. Each member has developed so much since week one?they have worked countless hours on achieving their goals athletically and academically.

?We will continue to grow as a program and develop the necessary skills to compete at the highest level. Looking forward to competing in our next competition in Bunker Hill, Illinois. Go Red Devils!?

Allen?s shooting team was approved by trustees in March 2025; their inaugural season is already shaping up to be a busy one.
