Red Devils Beat Coffeyville In 5

The Red Devils took on Coffeyville last night night in hopes of becoming 2-0 in conference play. While the first set the Red Devils would find them selves trailing behind, they eventually would shorten the gap to only 2 points. However, Coffeyville would end up winning the first set 25-27.  The Devils would come out in the second set fired up looking to even the score. With sophomore Madison Saia accumulating 18 kills throughout the match the devils would end up taking the second set 27-25.  The momentum was in the devils favor and  they would come out in the third set ready to command the floor. Freshman Gabriela Dominguez would acquire 16 kills and 23 digs allowing the devils to win the third set 25-9. Coffeyville answered back in the fourth set serving aggressively trying to get the devils out of system.  Although the devils had the upper hand they would have another slow start to allow Coffeyville an early lead. After much back and fourth Coffeyville would take the fourth set 25-21.

With the tension of a fifth set lingering for both teams the Red Devils knew it was now or never. With sophomore Alexis Hafenstine receiving 36 balls out of serve receive and acquiring 14 digs the ladies would refuse to let the ball hit the floor. With Coffeyville unable to connect and unable to find the floor the Red Devils would take the fifth set 15-12.

The Red Devils are now 2-0 in conference play and are continuing to look forward for their next match.

The Red Devil volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow evening at 6:00pm in Iola, Kansas to take on NEO in a non-conference match.
