Volleyball Loses to Neosho

The Lady Red Devil volleyball team traveled to face Neosho in their second conference match up on Wednesday evening. Allen had a rough start in the first set, struggling to put together an offense and earn points. Neosho won the first set 9-25. Freshman middle hitter, Dextiny Patrick, was injured Monday in practice forcing some players to step up in positions they don't normally play.  The Allen coaching staff made a lineup change in the second set, which was more effective. Allen was able to put together more attacks and step up their defense. Neosho however still took the set 18-25. Allen came to life the third set pushing Neosho to the brink. The Lady Red Devils fought hard and were much more competitive in all aspects. A few bad breaks for Allen at the end of the set gave the Panthers the match win in a very close set 25-27

Allen was led by McKenzie Kueker with 12 kills Bhana Gony with 8 and Holly Shinn rounds out the top attackers with 6 kills. Defense was led by Sam Gulley with 18 digs and the offense was ran by Kiersten Vincent with 22 assists.

Allen is now 0-2 in a couple of tough conference losses. Allen plays this weekend at the Coffeyville tournament on the 8th and 9th. The Devils travel to Johnson County next week for their next conference matchup.
