The Red Devils traveled to Norfolk, NE this weekend for their first tournament at Northeast CC. THE TEAM WALKED AWAY 1-3 overall.
The devils started off strong in the beginning and continued their winning streak, defeating Lake Region in 3 sets: 25-14, 25-18, 25-19. Allen carried that energy into the first set against Southeast CC, winning 25-16. The team then came across unexpected challenges. Two girls were out due to injury and sickness, forcing the devils to play out of position. They couldn't gain their stride back and were beaten 21-25, 20-25, and 17-25.
On Saturday, Allen took on their 3rd opponent, Kirkwood CC. The girls fell short in the first set 17-25, being victims of their own errors. In the second set, Allen cleaned up their game and battled but Kirkwood came out on top 24-26. The devils weren't able to shut down their opponent and lost the third set 15-25.
Allen faced Northeast CC for the last match of the tournament. The Devils cleaned up their game and battled strong but couldn't overcome the Hawk's aggressive offense, losing 17-25, 22-25, and 18-25.
Allen takes on rival Neosho at home on Wednesday, September 2.
