Castillo continues to shine hitting another mark
MARYVILLE, MO – On Friday and Saturday of this weekend, the Men and Women's team head on the road to travel to Northwest Missouri State University for the Bearcat Open. This week's meet had a positive outcome for all that competed and it allowed us to get some work accomplished. It has been hard this past week navigating training, especially with the harsh weather conditions. Overall, the performances this weekend gives an indication of where the Red Devils need to improve.
 
"We've been competing hard and not afraid to leave everything on the track. I saw an increase in the effort of the performances. The Red Devils plan moving into this new week is to continue to build and improve our execution on the track. "All we can do is to keep moving forward and chopping away each week" said Head Track Coach Davis. On the women's side, Destiny Castillo came through with another strong performance in the 60m dash, securing sixth place with a time of 7.72. Castillo is currently ranked and tied for 8th in the women's 60m dash in NJCAA. Kali Flowers, followed through with a time of 7.92. Others to follow in this event were Tiara Pascal (7.98),Giavonni Cunningham (8.00), and Sumayyah Muhammad (8.10).
 
Meanwhile in the women's 200m, Destiny Castillo runs a 25.51 in her heat to take 9th place overall. Tiara Pascal finishes third in her heat to run 26.69 and Sumayyah Muhammad runs 26.77 to finish 26th and 27th. Bertine Eugene competes in the 400m dash to run 1:06.05 On February 1st, the Red Devils will travel down to Pittsburg State University for the Pitt State Invitational.
