Joplin, MO- Allen Women Track team travel to Missouri Southern State University this past weekend.
The Lady Devils were led by freshman's Asha Alvarez and Vicky Ibarra who both qualified for the national meet. Alvarez competed in the 60 Meter Dash, 60 Meter Hurdles, and Triple Jump. On Alvarez's final attempt in Triple Jump she leap 10.67m/35'0.25ft which was farther then her first attempt that had already qualified her into the NJCAA National meet. Ibarra competed in the 5000 Meter Run where she ran 19:40.27 which is a new personal best for her in the 5000 Meter Run and also qualified her into the NJCAA National meet. Coach DeGrado said "I was very pleased with how Ibarra competed during the race and when it was hurting she picked up the pace. That showed Ibarra is growing into a great runner."
In addition to their performances Ivori Hood also had a personal best in the 60 Meter Dash of 8.00 while running 26.98 in the 200 Meter Dash. Naudia Stancil also had a personal best in 400 Meter Dash with the time of 1:04.28. While Tieasha Collier ran 1:01.35 in the 400 Meter Dash and Long Jump a mark of 5.28m/17'4ft. Adesuwa Osagiede competed in the 60 Meter Dash along with 200 Meter Dash with her times at 8.14 and 28.08.
The Lay Devils will travel to Pittsburgh State University on February 12-13, 2016 in Pittsburgh, KS.
