Ibarra steps up and runs a personal best

PITTSBURG, Kan – The Allen track teams split squads this past weekend taking a few to run on Pittsburg States new 300m facility and they didn't disappoint.

The Red Devils were led by Sophomores Pedro Montoya and Carlos James who both qualified for nationals and broke school records in their respective events. Carlos, who transferred this past fall ran season best in the 800m with a new school record time of 1:54.51 while Pedro Montoya running in his first indoor meet of the season shattering his own school record of 15:02.42.

Pedro Montoya and Ricardo Banuelos now ranked #5 and 6 in the NJCAA National rankings.

In addition to their performances, Aaron Miller ran a personal best in the 800m of 1:55.89 qualifying for the national meet. Ricardo Banuelos runs an all-time personal best in the 5000m with a time of 15:07.61 which ranks him #2 on the all-time 5000m indoor list.

 

LAWRENCE, Kan, - The Red Devils were led by Ceaser Stephens and Vinny Butera this past weekend. Hitting another National qualifying mark in the triple jump Ceaser Stephens jumps 46'8.25" while Vinny Butera runs all-time personal best in the 800m of 2:00.27. Vicky Ibarra narrowly misses qualifying for the National meet in the 3000m by 4 seconds, however running a personal best of 11:34.87.

 

The Red Devils will next be in action on Friday at the Missouri Southern Lion Open in Joplin, Mo
