Allen Loses Tough Game to KCK

The Allen Women's Soccer Team lost a highly contested match on Saturday afternoon 2-1 in double overtime to KCK. KCK started the scoring early on in the first half on a breakaway in behind the defense. The Red Devils battled back though and continued knocking on the door of the KCK goal, until the 70th minute when Hailey Jones played the ball down the line for an onrushing Leigh-Anne Bartlett who whipped a cross into the box and fellow Sophomore Brynn Suddeth got on the end of it heading it into the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Both teams had chances in the final 20 minutes of regulation but neither team could score.

Freshman Morgan Cossairt played the full game in goal for the Red Devils again coming up with some huge saves to keep Allen in the game and had 10 total. Allen picked up 4 yellow cards and 1 red in the very physical match, and the red card coming with 12 minutes to play in regulation forced the Red Devils to play down a player the rest of the game. Even down a player the lady Red Devils were able to create good chances in the end of regulation and in overtime but were unlucky to score. With 5 minutes remaining in the second overtime KCK scored the game winner from a corner kick.

This makes the Red Devils 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference. The Lady Red Devils will be back in action on Wednesday as theytravel to Coffeyville for another important conference matchup.
