Women Can't Close Gap on Cowley

The Lady Devils traveled to Arkansas City this evening to take on Cowley who is the second ranked team in the east. Going into the game, the ladies knew how hot their 3 point shooting could be but had a game plan of taking it away. The ladies would come out of the gates sluggish and find themselves down a quick 12-2. After finding some rhythm from Ariel Walker, the ladies would chip away to stay in the game. The stud shooter of Cowley would keep getting loose to find her range from 3. She would end up having 18 points at half. The ladies would continue to fight as Tunmi Amusa would make her presence known in the paint. The ladies would go into half down 35-44.

The third quarter would be strong for the ladies as they would change up defense and give Cowley a run for their money. Jakira Wilson would get going in the second half along with Alecia Verge as they attacked the basket for easy layups. The ladies would be down 41-47 nearing the middle of the third. However, Cowley would keep the lead with their hot shooting. In the fourth, the ladies would press to try and gain possessions but Cowley would find the open shooter. With 5 minutes to go, the ladies would be down 70-60 but would not gain anymore. Turnovers with under a minute left in the game would result in Cowley taking the victory by a score that was not Indicative of how the game went, 83-62.
