Lady Devils Fall to the Beavers

The ladies began conference tonight against the Pratt Beavers. The ladies got off to a great start as they would have Pratt down to a quick 7-0 start With their energy. After a timeout, Pratt would slowly crawl back into the game. The lone shooter on Pratt would connect on 3 threes and lead them on a spark into the second quarter. Ariel Walker would lead the Devils charge in the second quarter as she would hit 3 threes of her own. However, the ladies would be down 27-38 going into halftime.

In the second half, the ladies would throw a box and one defense at Pratt to which they would have no answer. The lone shooter would not score again in the second half. However, the inside-post game would pick up as Pratt would have second chances in the paint. The defensive intensity would not let up as the ladies found themselves down 6 points at the end of the third. In the fourth quarter, the ladies would battle back and forth to try and cut into the lead more but the 6 points would be taunting them. Ariel Walker would be the single woman show to keep the ladies fighting changes alive. She would again connect on back to back threes. However, the ladies began to foul with several minutes left in the game as they were down 9 and needed to gain possessions. Pratt would miss several free throws but would also get offensive rebounds for easy points. The score does not do the game justice as the ladies would come up short 52-71 for their first conference loss.

Ariel Walker led the fight with 26 points. Jakira Wilson added 9. Tunmi Amusa had a big game on the boards with 11 including 6 offensive rebounds. The ladies travel to Garden City this weekend to take on their scrappy squad.
