Women Fall in the 4th Quarter

The Lady Devils traveled to Barton this evening to face the Cougars who only had one loss at home on the year. The ladies would get off to a good start with their defense and would shut down their 2 hot shooters on the floor. However, the offense would not come easy as the starting five would shoot a combined 3-17 throughout the first quarter. Destiny Pittman and Logan Bonner would be the ones to come off the bench and get going on offense. Bonner would hit 2 quick 3s from beyond the arc to give the team a nice spark. The ladies would execute their game plan well as the bench would have 17 points but they would still find themselves down 23-28 at half.

The third quarter would be back and forth with Barton. The ladies would claw their way back into the game as Tamera Shaver and Kam Summons would get hot on offense. Shaver would find her rhythm by attacking her defender. The game would be tied 30-30 midway through the quarter but the ladies would give up multiple offensive rebounds to find themselves down 8 after three quarters of play. The final minutes of the game would result in more missed block outs and Barton knocking down free throws. Barton would shoot 26-30 from the line for the game. The ladies would come up short by a final 67-81.

Overall, the ladies executed their game plan for most of the game but would still struggle to finish for the full 40 minutes. The ladies were led by Tamera Shaver with 16 points while Kam Summons added 14. Destiny Pittman had 11 points as well. The ladies Will face a tough Cowley team this Saturday at home at 2pm. Cowley got their first loss on the season tonight against Seward. Come out and support!
