Women's Basketball Struggles to Finish Off Garden City

The ladies traveled to play another conference matchup against Garden City tonight. The first half would be neck and neck the whole way with 6 ties and 6 lead changes. In the first half, Jakira Wilson would be the spark that got the ladies going as she attacked the rim for easy buckets. Akia Andrews came up big on the boards against the inside post game of Garden. However, overall the ladies would struggle to block out in the first half as Garden would score easily on second chance points. The ladies would be down 31-33 at half.

The second half would be much of the same story as there would be 8 more ties and 8 lead changes. Tamera Shaver would get hot from 3 late in the game to keep the ladies battling back and forth. Kam Summons also found her aggressive game and would knock down big shots as well. With 5 minutes to play in the game, the score would be tied 58-58. The ladies would struggle to score as they stopped attacking and again would not be able to get a rebound which led to Garden having several "and-1" opportunities on their putbacks. A big 3 by Tamera Shaver still gave the ladies a final chance but it would be too little too late. Garden would take the win 75-67.

The ladies were led by Jakira Wilson and Tamera Shaver who each had 15 points. Kam Summons added 12 while Destiny Pittman had 9. The ladies will take a few days to enjoy the holiday and will be back in action at home this Saturday against Butler at 2:00 PM.
