Women's Basketball Defeats Colby

The Lady Devils faced Colby Saturday afternoon for another conference matchup. The ladies would get off to a very sluggish start and find themselves down a quick 0-8 as Coach Buchanan called a timeout to fire them up and get them to respond, which they did. The next 4 minutes would be an 11-3 run by the ladies led by none other than the aggressive Kam Summons. Jakira Wilson also got involved early by attacking their defense and creating havoc with her defense. Tamera Shaver again proved her strong defense in the game as she shut down their main scorer from beyond the arc. The ladies would make their run and find a halftime lead 30-25.

In the second half of play, Destiny Pittman would catch fire along side of Wilson to get to the rim and free throw line. Pittman and Arial Elzie would have big minutes as they crashed the boards on offense and defense. The ladies would build a big cushion in the third and fourth quarters as their lead was built to 22 and never look back. Jakira Wilson would continue to attack the basket and not let the full court pressure of Colby rattle her. The ladies would get the win by a final 71-57. This would be their first conference win of the season.

The ladies were led by Jakira Wilson with 14 points, Destiny Pittman with 13, Tamera Shaver with 10. Alecia Verge and Kam Summons each added 8 points as well. Arial Elzie had 11 rebounds along with her 2 blocked shots. The ladies head to Garden City for their last game before Thanksgiving to knock off the Broncs Tuesday night.
