Allen Dominates Ottawa JV

The Lady Red Devils started off their season last night with a bang with a big win over Ottawa JV. The ladies got off to a hot start on a 9-0 run and would never look back. The 5 returning sophomores led the way for the newcomers. Kam Summons, Katelyn Swanson and Tamera Shaver played very aggressive and led the attack to combine for 30 points and 7 steals all in the first half. The ladies went on a hot shooting streak just before halftime and would take a big lead 41-15 heading into the locker room.

The second half would be much of the same story as the newcomers got into their rhythm and had their own surge. Logan Bonner would get hot from behind the arc while Alecia Verge attacked the rim and got inside the paint for easy buckets. Arial Elzie made her 6'3 presence known in the post as well. It was an overall team effort as scoring and minutes were very balanced across the board. Kam Summons led the way with 23 points and 5 steals. Tamera Shaver added 12, Logan Bonner added 11, Alecia Verge added 10, Katelyn Swanson added 9 and Arial Elzie had 8. The final score was a crushing 85-47!

As Coach Buchanan said after the game, "Enjoy this win, but we can't be satisfied as the true test comes this weekend where we have to prove ourselves".  The ladies host their Red Devil Classic this weekend playing at 5pm on Friday and again on Saturday (boys play after at 7pm both days). Come out and show your support!!!
