Women's Basketball vs Cloud

The Lady Red Devils traveled to Concordia this evening to take on Cloud in another conference matchup. The ladies got off to a great start by taking away Cloud's main shooter. Damonica Franklin also got the girls going on offense with her aggressive play and knocking down long range shots. The end of the first quarter would give the Devils the lead 23-16.

The second quarter would be a complete turn around for the ladies as Cloud would start to knock down open shots while the ladies struggled to find a way to score as all 3 post players got into foul trouble. This led to a smaller lineup that would have no answer for Cloud's strong post player. Cloud would go on a 14-2 run before the Devils would score again. This led to a 20-8 quarter and a halftime deficit of 36-31.

The third quarter would prove to be much of the same story for the ladies as they would continue to play passive and let Cloud control their offense. The ladies quickly went down another 10 points going into the fourth quarter. Kamri Summons would lead the ladies throughout the quarter by putting full court pressure and creating steals for easy buckets. Cloud did not do well handling the ladies defensive intensity and the lead would be cut from 18 to 9 with about 7 minutes to go in the game. However, this surge would be too little too late. The Devils would try and close the gap even more but unforced turnovers and lack of rebounding ended the attack as the ladies would come up short 77-59.

Damonica Franklin led the way with 14 points while Kamri Summons added 10. The next home game will be Saturday at 2 (pending inclement weather) against Pratt.
