Women's basketball Wins three in a row

Over the Thanksgiving break, the Lady Red Devils faced Garden City at home. The ladies got off to a great defensive start by  completely shutting down Garden's top player and shooter. Akia Andrews had a monster game on the boards and in the paint. Sequerah Alleyne led the defensive attack along with scoring in the first half. Her aggressive play and attack off the dribble allowed the Devils to take a halftime lead of 31-27. 

 

The second half would be huge for the Red Devils bench play. Kam Summons would come into the game and dominate the defensive end by getting steals and deflections that led to easy buckets. Summons had crucial free throws down the stretch as well. Kendra Houston also came in and attacked Garden's defense as well by getting to the rim. Akia Andrews would knock down a big 3 in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. The ladies would create a 13 point lead in the fourth quarter and ended up knocking off Garden by a score 78-70. 

 

The ladies had multiple players that stepped up in this game to contribute to the victory. They were led by Akia Andrews who had a double double with 14 rebounds and 17 points. Kam Summons added 15 points, Kendra Houston added 13, while Sequerah Alleyne added 11. The ladies are now 3-1 in conference and will travel to Butler today to take on a team that is very tall and athletic. The next home game will be Wednesday night against Barton!
