Lady Red Devils Knock Off Colby 65-61

The Lady Red Devils traveled to Colby this afternoon to take on the Lady Trojans. The ladies got off to a hot start by playing full court defense on Colby that led to steals and quick transition points for the Devils. Tamera Shaver started off the game by attacking the paint and getting to the rim and adding the extra point plays by drawing the foul as well. The ladies would take a quick 10 point lead and extended it throughout the entire half. Their aggressive mindset combined with sharing the basketball led to a big halftime lead for Allen of 45-21. 

 

The second half would be a different story for the Lady Devils. They would not come out and continue to attack like they did in the first half. The ladies would also not have much contribution from the bench, However, several players stepped up and would help seal the deal. Damonica Franklin had a monster game inside both scoring inside the paint and grabbing crucial rebounds. Sequerah Alleyne also had big minutes and would get to the rim several times including the game finishing shot at the buzzer. The game would be a 6 point lead for the Devils with just 3 minutes to go. The ladies ended up locking up and switching their defense to shut Colby down at the end. Coach Buchanan also drew up crucial plays that the ladies executed perfectly and knocked down their shots to knock off Colby at home. The ladies ended up pulling off the victory by a score of 65-61. 

 

Damonica Franklin had a double double again with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tamera Shaver added 11 while Katelyn Swanson and Sequerah Alleyne each added 10 points. 

 

The ladies are now 2-1 in conference and their next game will be Tuesday the 22nd at home against Garden City.
