The Lady Red Devils Defeated Bigtime Rival

The Lady Red Devils faced bigtime rival Neosho last night and as expected, the game did not disappoint! The ladies would jump out to a quick start by scoring in transition and put Neosho down 6-0. Their quick hitting offense combined with multiple defenses would prove to be a problem for Neosho. Neosho would throw a 1-3-1 defense at the ladies but would not succeed in being able to stop shooters. Kendra Houston and Chelsey Trautloff led the first half with their aggressive offense. Trautloff would knock down crucial shots throughout the game from beyond the arc. The first half had 6 lead changes and ended with the Red Devils being up 36-34 at half.

The second half would be much of the same story. There would be 8 more lead changes as the score continued to bounce back and forth. Trautloff remained hot on her shooting in the second half and would also have crucial steals the led to easy buckets for Allen. Tamera Shaver would also take over in the second half by attacking the basket and knocking down bigtime free throws. Sequerah Alleyne would lead the team with her defense and hustle at the end of the game. Not only was she diving on the floor for loose balls, she also crashed the offensive glass and gave the ladies more opportunities to score. In the final minutes, the ladies would be down by 6 points but continued to fight and came up with huge shots from Chelsey Trautloff and Katelyn Swanson that led to a tie game with under 30 seconds to go. The ladies locked down on their man-to-man defense and would force the game to go into overtime with the score all tied up at 67.

In overtime, Tamera Shaver and Damonica Franklin would finish off the deal for the Lady Red Devils. Shaver handled the pressure at the point position that Neosho was throwing at her and executed plays that were drawn up to get easy buckets. Franklin also played aggressive and would not be stopped in the post. Akia Andrews came up with monster rebounds on the defensive end in overtime and would knock down crucial free throws as well. The final score resulted in the Red Devils knocking off Neosho 77-73. Everyone contributed in this game as it was a true team victory. The ladies were led by Trautloff who had 17 points. Shaver added 12 points of her own. Swanson added 11 points while Houston and Alleyne each had 10. Franklin also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 big rebounds.

The ladies would like to thank everyone for their support as the crowd was amazing throughout the game! The ladies will travel to Colby, America this weekend for another conference game. The final game before Thanksgiving will be at home on November 22 at 6pm against Garden City.
