Indy over Allen 82-66

The Lady Devils traveled to Independence this afternoon to take on another conference opponent. The ladies got off to a good start against the bigger Indy lineup. Their zone defense would pay off as Indy could only score off put backs and free throws. However, the second chances Indy was given created early foul trouble for the Lady Devils. The ladies would struggle to keep Indy off the offensive glass and would be down 13-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same story. The ladies were led by Ashley Washington who got the offense going by attacking the rim off screens and knocking down key shots. However, Indy would match the offense by scoring in transition. Ashley Sally stepped up in big minutes and led the team with a defensive/rebounding charge. Even still, The ladies would have a halftime deficit 26-37.

The ladies fought back in the second half and cut the lead down to 6 points three times in the third quarter. Mckena Arlt began to create offense off the dribble which led to easy buckets. Despite all the foul trouble and mixed lineups, the score with 7 minutes to go in the game was favored to Indy 55-50 but the ladies would never cut into the lead. Indy would again have offensive rebounds for easy points to extend the lead. The final score would be in Indys favor 82-66 but does not indicate the feel of how the game went.

The Lady Devils were led by Ashley Washington who had 19 points. Ashley Sally had a big time game with a double double including 12, points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Mckena Arlt added 16 points as well.

The ladies have their last regular season home game against rival Neosho on Monday night.
