Allen falls to the Red Ravens

The Lady Devils traveled to Coffeyville this evening for another conference game. The ladies would get off to a great start against a Coffeyville team that was bigger, taller and stronger. The ladies kept Coffeyville on their toes by playing multiple zone defenses that would give them trouble and end the first quarter with the ladies being down 16-19.

The second quarter would be much of the same story for the Lady Devils. They continued to compete and kept the lead to 5 points up until the half. Ashley Sally would get hot shooting and lead the team with 8 points at half. 2 missed free throws and a 3 point buzzer shot by Coffeyville would give them a 5 point swing and the halftime lead of 35-27.

The second half for the ladies would be tough to match the athleticism and depth of Coffeyville. Haley Wilson would get hot from the floor and hit 3 crucial 3s while Ashley Washington would make a run in transition. The ladies would be down 8 at the end of the fourth quarter but would never be able to cut it any closer. The size of Coffeyville would lead to a fourth quarter push that would put the Lady Devils down 15 based on giving up 24 offensive rebounds. The ladies would end up losing by a final 53-71.  However, The final score was no indication for how the game was played. The Lady Devils fought the entire way and played together through four quarters.

The ladies were led by Ashley Washington with 14 points, Haley Wilson added 10, and Ashley Sally also had 10. The ladies will have the weekend off and will play their next game at home on Wednesday, January 20 against Pratt.
