Red Devils come up short with a score of 73-67

The Lady Red Devils traveled to Garden City tonight for another conference game. The ladies started off the game with the energy and tempo they needed for a tough road game. Damonica Franklin had a monster game from the beginning and did not let their post players contain her inside. Garden would have no answer for her. The ladies also executed their defensive game plan and took Garden out of their normal fast paced transition game. These efforts gave the Lady Devils a 13-9 first quarter lead.

The second quarter would be much of the same story while Damonica Franklin and Ashley Washington would continue to lead their team. Ashley Washington would get hot from downtown to help take the defensive pressure off the post play. The ladies would be down 1 point at halftime.

The second half would go back and forth between the two teams and would include 4 more lead changes and 2 ties. Ariyah Sorrells stepped up and led a defensive charge for the team and ended up grabbing 6 crucial rebounds. Mckena Arlt also played aggressive on offense and would shoot 4-8 from beyond the arc to lead the ladies in the second half. The ladies nearly put a full 40 minute game together but would miss crucial free throws near the end and came up just short against Garden by a score 73-67.

The ladies fought until the last possession of the game and came away with confidence and fire to go out and finish the next one with a "W". Ashley Washington led the way with 19 points, Damonica Franklin added 18, Mckena Arlt added 14 and Ariyah Sorrells added 9. The ladies are now 1-2 in conference and will take on Dodge City tomorrow evening.
