The Lady Red Devils defeat Hesston 66-54

The Lady Red Devils traveled to Hesston tonight for another road game. The entire first half was back and forth between the two teams including 8 ties and 10 lead changes. The ladies came out with a slow offensive start shooting 26% from the floor and lacking the chemistry of playing together. This led to a halftime deficit 26-28 for the Lady Devils.

The second half, and more specifically the third quarter, would be a huge turn around for the ladies. They came out of halftime with confidence and fire to steal a win on the road. Not only did the ladies start hitting shots but their intensity was sparked by Zasha Taylor and Addie Haar who fueled the ladies offensively BECAUSE of their defense. Rachael Bruce also came in and contributed big minutes by stepping in and playing solid in the post. The ladies would out score Hesston in the third by 10 and would hold that lead for the remainder of the game.

In the fourth quarter, the ladies made crucial free throws as Hesston tried to foul to come back from their deficit. The ladies ended up shooting 42% in the second half. Everyone contributed in this game and did "their part" to get the win 66-54.

The Lady Devils were led by a monster game from Zasha Taylor who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Washington added 16 points while Mckena Arlt and Ariyah Sorrells each had 7.

The ladies are now 3-2 on the season and will travel to Kansas City this weekend for a 2-game classic starting Friday against Labette and continuing Saturday against KCK.
