Women's Basketball opens with a win over Ottawa JV

The Lady Red Devils kicked off their 2015-16 season with a nice win over Ottawa JV by a score of 82-51. The two teams battled back and forth for the lead in the first quarter as there were 6 ties during the first 10 minutes of play. However, in the second quarter, Allen would take the lead for good and never look back. The ladies went into halftime with a 38-27 lead and continued to build on that lead in the third quarter where Allen thrived on an 18 point margin lead. Each player contributed to the win by making all the extra hustle plays which resulted in 12 deflections, 6 steals and 40 rebounds. The ladies shared the basketball and played well together ending the game with 18 assists. Two freshmen - McKena Arlt and DaMonica Franklin - led the way for the Lady Devils. Arlt lit it up with 17 points while Franklin added 14. Haley Wilson also had a hot shooting night from downtown as she went 4/6 and added 12 points as well.
