Allen Men Advance to Semi Final

The Allen Men's Basketball team advanced to the semi-finals of the Region VI Tournament with a dominant 87-50 win over the Hesston College Larks on Monday evening. The Red Devils got off to hot start from the perimeter as Nick Whittick led the game off with a 3-pointer. Hesston would answer on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 3-3, but Tanner Meyer would knock down a pair of 3's to give Allen the lead and the Red Devils would never look back. Allen took a 24-point advantage into the halftime break at 48-24. Allen shot 45% in the first half, while holding Hesston to just 26% in the half.

In the second half the Red Devils would continue their lockdown defense. Allen also was able to dominate the points in the paint. The Red Devils finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds which allowed easy points at the rim all game. Allen also shot the basketball better than their previous few games. The Red Devils connected on 11 of 29 3-point attempts for the game. The Larks finished the game with just 13 made field goals and shot 19% for the game.

All 15 players who suited up saw minutes in the game, and 13 players scored for Allen. The Red Devils finished with 6 players reaching double figures in scoring. Tanner Meyer led with 13 points. Meyer finished 4 of 6 from the floor. Ahmed Mahgoub and Donavan Seamer each finished with 11 points. Mahgoub nearly recorded a double-double with 9 rebounds. Seamster finished 3 of 8 from the 3-point line. Max Cheap, Chris Dixon, and Eimon Galloway each finished with 10 points.

This win moves Allen to 22-9 overall on the season. Next Allen will travel to Mid-America Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas on Friday for another matchup with KCK. Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
