The Allen Red Devils earned the regular season sweep over rival Neosho Community College on Saturday with a 68-52 victory. This marks the 20th win of the season for Allen giving them back-to-back 20+ win seasons. Allen struggled scoring in the first few minutes as Neosho jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. After the slow start the Red Devils started clicking and their defense tightened up. Allen was able to push the lead up to double digits in the first half, and Allen went into the halftime break with a 32-22 advantage.
The Red Devils would quickly take the lead up to 17 points in the second half, but the Panthers would never let the lead get to 20 points. Every time Allen would make a run the Panthers would answer with a mini run of their own to cut the lead back down. Allen was never seriously threatened in the second half and cruised to nice road victory.
Chris Dixon led the way in scoring with 16 points. Dixon connected on 4 of 10 from the 3-point line. Ahmed Mahgoub had a very impressive performance with 15 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Nick Whittick chipped in 5 points and dished out 6 assists.
Allen is now 20-7 overall on the season and 9-2 in the KJCCC standings. Allen is currently in first place in conference. The Red Devils will host Fort Scott on Wednesday night at 8:00 pm.
