Allen's Win Streak Comes to an End

The Allen Men's Basketball team ended their win streak at 10 with a 63-66 loss against KCK. The Blue Devils started the game a step faster than the Red Devils and grabbed the early lead. Midway through the 1st half Allen would go on a run and take the lead. The teams would go back-and-forth  for the remainder of the half. The Red Devils ended the 1st half with a 1-point advantage at 34-33.

Allen would carry that momentum into the second half, and pushed the lead up to as many as 8 points. But the Red Devils offense would stall out and KCK began their comeback. Allen and KCK would keep the game close going into the final few minutes. KCK's Bradley Lightbourne was  awarded two free-throws late in the game to give KCK a 3-point advantage. On the ensuing possession Allen was not able to convert and and had to fould quickly. KCK would miss the front end of the 1 and 1 and Allen quickly called timeout with 3 seconds remaining.

Allen's last second play nearly worked, but Donavan Seamster's 3-pointer was just off the mark. Ahmed Mahgoub led the way in scoring for Allen with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Donavan Seamster continued his hot shooting from the perimeter as he connected on 4 of 7 attempts from beyond the arc. Seasmter finished with 12 points. Brayden Thompson also reached double figures with 11 points and Thompson also grabbed 8 rebounds.

Allen is now 16-6 overall on the season, and 5-1 in Conference play. Allen will head to Johnson County this Saturday for a matchup with the Cavaliers. Allen, Johnson, and KCK are all 5-1 in the conference standings.
