Red Devils Win at Buzzer

Red Devils Win at Buzzer

The Allen Men's Basketball team leaves Beatrice, Nebraska with a pair of wins at the Southeast Classic. Saturday afternoon the Red Devils won in dramatic fashion 54-52 over the Central Community College Raiders.

Both teams would struggle from the floor throughout the game, causing it to be a low scoring affair. Donavan Seamster came off the bench and provided an immediate spark for the Red Devils with three quick 3-pointers to give Allen the early lead. The Raiders would close the half on a run of their own and the two teams ended up tied at the break 25-25.

In the second half the Red Devils and the Raiders would remain tight as neither team was able hold onto the lead. The Red Devils were down 2 with a couple minutes remaining, but a bit triple from Donavan Seamster gave Allen the 1-point lead late in the game. The Raiders would get fouled with 13 seconds and trailing by 1 point. Central made the first free throw, but missed the second. Allen rebounded the miss and got the ball to sophomore point guard Nick Whittick. Whittick received a ballscreen from Brayden Thompson that allowed Whittick to attack downhill. Whittick would make the game winning runner with just 3 seconds left. The last second heave from half court from Central was off the mark giving Allen a 2-0 weekend at the Southeast Classic.

Donavan Seamster led all scorers with 16 points. Ahmed Mahgoub also reached double figures with 11 points. Brayden Thompson scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Allen is now 8-5 on the season. The Red Devils will host Metropolitan CC on Tuesday at 8:00 pm.
