Allen Takes Care of Cardinals

The Allen Men's Basketball team won their 8 consecutive contest, and 7th straight KJCCC matchup with a 75-59 win over the Labette Cardinals. The Red Devils wasted no time as they quickly jumped out to an early lead as Cedric Rollerson connected on a couple 3's to get things started for Allen. The Red Devils would never trail for the remainder of the contest. Allen pushed the lead to 17-4 in the early going, as the Red Devils defense was relentless in getting defensive stops. The Cardinals kept fighting and after a few Allen turnovers the Cardinals cut the halftime lead to 14 points with a score of 41-27 in favor of Allen.

To begin the second half both teams traded baskets, and it felt like the lead just hovered around 14 to 16 points for quite some time. Midway through the half the Red Devils were able to stretch the lead up to 20 points. Allen was able to penetrate the Cardinal defense and made great extra passes to get quality attempts. Allen was also able to take advantage of the free-throw line in the second half to help solidify the victory.

All 16 Allen players who suited up saw action in the contest. Ed Wright led the way in scoring with 15 points on 5 of 13 from the floor, and 2-6 from the 3 point line. Brayden Thompson continued his solid play as of late with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Cedric Rollerson found double digits in scoring with 11 points, and Rollerson also dished out 8 assists.

Allen is ranked 17th in the latest NJCAA Polls, and the Red Devils now have sole possession of first place in the KJCCC. Allen is now 18-4 on the season and 7-0 in KJCCC action. Next Allen will hit the road for back to back road contests, starting with Hesston on Monday, and then at Highland on Wednesday.
